Claim Watch: Mischief Lily
Although she hasn't shown much promise on the track, Mischief Lily has an eyebrow-raising pedigree
The fifth race at Horseshoe Indianapolis on Tuesday, July 1st is a $12,500 maiden claiming event for fillies and mares going a mile and a sixteenth on the turf. Among the entrants for that race is Mischief Lily, a five-year-old daughter of Into Mischief who has yet to break through with a victory in 23 career starts but who has still managed to bank over $70,000 in her career.
While at this point it’s fairly obvious that Mischief Lily is not destined to make waves on the racetrack, her pedigree is intriguing enough that I think she merits a long look as a potential broodmare, especially at this price tag. At face value, this is about as commercial as a pedigree can get - a daughter of Into Mischief, out of a Speightstown mare, with black type 2nd through 7th dams by the likes of A.P. Indy, Deputy Minister, Buckpasser, etc.
