Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2025 Pedigree Selections
Pedigree highlights from Tuesday's upcoming two-year-old sale
Two-year-olds in training are on display in Timonium, Maryland this week. Rain in the mid-Atlantic region washed out the final day of the breeze sale, which was rescheduled as gallop-only, and the sale itself will now take place on a single day tomorrow, May 20th, but I’m still here with a few pedigrees that caught my attention in this year’s edition of the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Sale. As always, these selections are based strictly on pedigree and are not necessarily a recommendation to buy a horse. They are presented in order by hip number.
Hip 073 - f. Yaupon x Cruise and Danze (Danza)
This filly has some fascinating linebreeding, as she comes from the same female family 5i as her first-crop sire, who is already the sire of a winner in his first two starters and has had 38 juveniles sell for an average of $248,895 and median of $190,000 in 2025. In addition to the linebreeding to her own tail-female line, there’s additional linebreeding here to two separate branches of Lowe family 4: her dam carries family 4m’s French Deputy, Unbridled’s Song, and Old Fashioned, complementing family 4m’s Dixieland Band on the sire’s side, and family 4n’s In Excess and Leo Castelli (the sire and damsire of Yaupon’s grandsire Indian Charlie) are complemented by 4n’s Meadowlake on the bottom, who is a half-brother to Leo Castelli.
While the cross of Uncle Mo over Street Cry has underperformed, with only three stakes winners in 61 on the cross (4.9%), the cross of Uncle Mo over Unbridled’s Song has been quite successful, with 14 stakes winners in 151 starters (9.3%). This foal is the second foal from the stakes-winning Danza mare Cruise and Danze, who was a winner of the 7f Ruthless Stakes as a three-year-old. Cruise and Danze is also the dam of a three-year-old by Honor A. P. who has yet to start.
